Requirements: | Fabric A - 1 yard very light value in desired color way (solid Kona white was used in the sample) Fabric B - 2 yards of medium value in desired color way (a lavender and white print was used in the sample) Fabric c - 1 1/8 yard of dark value in desired color way (a deep purple Kona cotton was used in the sample) 3 - yards of 40? wide fabric for backing (piecing will be done in class) Neutral thread Sewing machine and basic sewing supplies Rotary mat, cutter and ruler (at least 5 " wide by 24" long) Materials needed to complete the quilt but not needed for class: 5/8 yard for binding 60" x 70" batting Pre class cutting instructions: WOF stands for width of fabric Fabric A - light value, cut (5) 5" WOF strips Fabric B - medium value, cut (11) 5" WOF strips Fabric C - dark value, cut (6) 5" WOF strips Binding - cut (7) 2" WOF strips Instructor's note: I recommend prewashing and pressing all your fabrics prior to cutting. Using a Shout! Color Catcher sheet in the wash will collect excess dye from the dark fabric. |
